نص قرآني / حديث شريفThe Prophet ﷺ said: "Seek treatment, servants of Allah, for Allah has not made a disease without making a cure for it, except one: old age" (Abu Dawud 3855, Tirmidhi 2038). Seeking treatment is permitted and encouraged; many scholars consider it recommended, and obligatory when a treatment is known to save life or prevent serious harm. It does not contradict trust in Allah (tawakkul): the Prophet ﷺ told a man to tie his camel and then rely on Allah (Tirmidhi 2517). Medical practice is an amana, a trust: the doctor must be competent, honest and careful, and must keep the patient's secrets, since "the one who is consulted is trustworthy" (Abu Dawud 5128, Tirmidhi 2822). The patient's informed agreement matters: treatment is a service offered to a person, not imposed without respect for their dignity. Where a case is serious, scholars ask for the medical facts from trusted doctors before applying rulings. This lesson explains how scholars and councils reason; it is not a personal fatwa. For your own situation, ask a qualified scholar and your doctor.
