نص قرآني / حديث شريفThe first word of the revelation was "Read": "Read in the name of your Lord who created" (96:1). The Qur'an teaches the believer to ask for more: "Say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge" (20:114). It asks: "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" (39:9) and invites reflection on the signs in the heavens and the earth (3:190-191). The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever takes a path seeking knowledge, Allah makes easy for him a path to Paradise" (Muslim 2699). This frame explains why learning became an act of worship for Muslims: the study of the Qur'an and the language gave rise to grammar, the study of hadith to the science of narrators, and the study of the world to observation and measurement. Not every later achievement was a religious act in itself, but the culture that produced them valued knowledge as a duty and a service.
