نص قرآني / حديث شريفIbrahim (Abraham) searched for the truth and refused to worship idols, even those worshipped by his father and his people. He broke their idols, and they threw him into a great fire. Allah said: "O fire, be coolness and safety for Ibrahim" (21:69).
Allah tested him many times: leaving his wife Hajar and his son Isma'il in the valley of Makkah, and the command to sacrifice his son. When both submitted, Allah replaced the sacrifice with a ram (37:102-107). This is why we sacrifice at Eid al-Adha.
نص قرآني / حديث شريفIbrahim and Isma'il raised the foundations of the Kaaba (2:127), and Ibrahim prayed for a messenger among his descendants. The Qur'an calls him "hanif", upright (16:120). Lessons: trust in Allah, submission and sincerity.
