Unit: Purity
When it is required and how it is done.
Ghusl is washing the whole body with the intention of purifying yourself. It is required after the end of a woman's period or postnatal bleeding, and after the discharge that comes with growing up, or after marital relations. Allah says: "If you are in a state of major impurity, purify yourselves" (5:6).
How: intend, wash your hands, clean the private parts, do a wudu, then pour water over the head and the whole body, making sure that the water reaches everywhere, including the mouth, nose and hair roots.
It is also recommended before Friday prayer. If you have questions about your body, ask your parents or a trusted teacher: there is no shame in learning your religion (Aisha said about the women of the Ansar that shyness did not stop them from learning, Muslim 332).
