Unit: Living with others
Checking before believing or repeating.
Allah says: "Do not follow what you have no knowledge of; hearing, sight and the heart will all be questioned" (17:36). Today we receive thousands of opinions a day. Thinking critically means asking: Who says it? What is the evidence? Is this person competent? Is it a fact or an opinion?
This protects you from two dangers: believing everything you read, and rejecting everything because someone shouted loudly. Allah also tells us to verify news (49:6) and to "ask the people of knowledge if you do not know" (16:43).
In Islam, a critical mind is not a threat to faith: faith asks you to use your reason. If you have a question or a doubt, talk to a teacher or a parent you trust: asking is part of learning.
Answer every question to see your result.
