Unit: The Sunnah
The words, actions and approvals of the Prophet ﷺ.
The Sunnah is the way of the Prophet ﷺ. It is preserved in hadiths: reports of what he said, did or approved, and also of his character. Allah says: "Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, leave it" (59:7), and "You have in the Messenger of Allah a good example" (33:21).
The Qur'an gives the principles; the Sunnah explains how to apply them. For example, the Qur'an commands prayer and zakat, while the Sunnah shows how many units of prayer and how zakat is paid.
The Companions carefully listened to the Prophet ﷺ, memorised and passed on what they saw and heard. If you have a question or a doubt, talk to a teacher or a parent you trust: asking is part of learning.
