مِنْ أَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ الْحُسْنَى

You have a name. Allah has many names, and they are all very beautiful! Allah says: "To Allah belong the most beautiful names." (meaning of part of verse 7:180)

Today, you learn three of them.

1. الرَّحْمَٰنُ Ar-Raḥmaan The Most Merciful: the One who is full of kindness and love for all His creatures. You say this name every time you say "bismi llaahi r-raḥmaani r-raḥiim".

2. الْخَالِقُ Al-Khaaliq The Creator: the One who created all things. You learned this in the first lesson! "He is Allah, the Creator." (meaning of part of verse 59:24)

3. السَّمِيعُ As-Samii' The All-Hearing: the One who hears everything: loud noises, small voices, and even what you say in your heart.

A little game to remember: • I put my hands on my heart: Ar-Raḥmaan, Allah is full of kindness. • I point to the sky and the trees: Al-Khaaliq, Allah created everything. • I put my hand on my ear: As-Samii', Allah hears everything.

Understanding the lesson

Explanation Each name of Allah teaches us something about Him. Ar-Rahman: Allah's kindness is immense. The Prophet ﷺ explained that Allah made mercy in one hundred parts. He sent only one part down to the earth: thanks to it, mothers are gentle with their babies, even animal mothers. And He kept the other 99 parts for the Last Day (Bukhari 6000, Muslim 2752). Al-Khaliq: everything that exists, Allah created it, and He made it very well. As-Sami': Allah hears all voices at the same time, in every language, without ever getting tired.

Lessons to draw from it • Allah is full of kindness: I try to be gentle and kind too. • Allah created everything: I thank Him for the beautiful things around me. • Allah hears everything: I talk to Him often, and I am careful about what I say.

Key points to remember • Ar-Rahman: the Most Merciful, full of kindness. • Al-Khaliq: the Creator (59:24). • As-Sami': the All-Hearing. • To Allah belong the most beautiful names (7:180).

The main message The beautiful names of Allah help me know Him: Allah is full of kindness, He created everything and He hears everything.
