الوحدة: الوحي واليوم الآخر والقدر
From the grave to the final account.
Belief in the Last Day includes everything that Allah and His Messenger ﷺ told us about what follows death. The first stage is the barzakh, the life of the grave, which is a time of questioning and either comfort or discomfort (Bukhari 1338, Muslim 2870).
Then the trumpet is blown, the dead are raised, and people are gathered for the reckoning. Deeds are weighed on the scale: "Whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it" (99:7-8). Each person receives the record of deeds. The Prophet ﷺ has the right of intercession, with Allah's permission (Bukhari 4712), and the believers cross the Sirat above Hell to reach Paradise. Paradise is eternal bliss; Hell is a real punishment, and Allah's mercy precedes His wrath (Bukhari 3194).
Scholars hold different opinions on some details (the order of some events, the nature of some descriptions). The essentials are agreed: resurrection, accountability, reward and punishment. The mainstream Sunni schools of creed (Athari, Ash'ari, Maturidi) agree on these foundations and differ on some points of method and detail, which this lesson signals without settling.
