نص قرآني / حديث شريفA Companion (sahabi) is someone who met the Prophet ﷺ as a believer and died as a believer. The Qur'an praises the first generation: "Allah is pleased with the foremost of the Muhajirun and the Ansar and those who followed them in goodness" (9:100). The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them" (Bukhari 2652, Muslim 2533).
The ten given the good news of Paradise (Tirmidhi 3747) include the four rightly guided caliphs. Among others: Khadija and Aisha, who transmitted knowledge; Bilal, the first caller to prayer, once a slave; Mus'ab ibn Umayr, who taught Madinah; and Asma bint Abi Bakr, who helped during the Hijra.
