الوحدة: العمل على النفس
Using the world without being owned by it.
The Prophet ﷺ told Ibn Umar: "Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller" (Bukhari 6416). A traveller uses what helps him on the road and does not build his home in the middle of the journey. The world is not evil in itself, since it is the field of the hereafter, but loving it more than Allah blinds the heart.
He also said: "Richness is not having many possessions, but richness is the richness of the soul" (Bukhari 6446, Muslim 1051). Qana'a, contentment, is accepting with satisfaction what Allah provides, while working lawfully and without envy. And: "Look at those who are below you, and do not look at those above you" (Muslim 2963).
Practical advice: spend on needs before wants, give regularly, avoid comparing yourself on social media, and remember death often (Tirmidhi 2307): it brings humility and focus. Spiritual refinement is built on the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah, with the obligations first; if you feel you need guidance for a particular struggle, speak to a trusted, qualified teacher.
