الوحدة: العمل على النفس
Small organs, big consequences.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent" (Bukhari 6018, Muslim 47). The tongue can build or destroy: backbiting (ghiba) is mentioning your brother in a way he would dislike, even if it is true (Muslim 2589), and the Qur'an compares it to eating the flesh of one's dead brother (49:12). Lying, mockery and swearing are also to be avoided. The Prophet ﷺ warned that people are thrown into the Fire on their faces because of what their tongues have reaped (Tirmidhi 2616).
Allah also commands lowering the gaze (24:30-31). The eye leads the heart: guarding it protects the heart from desires that are hard to cure and from comparison and envy.
Practical help: pause before speaking (is it true, is it useful, is it kind?), leave a gathering where backbiting takes place, and fill your tongue with dhikr and beneficial words. Spiritual refinement is built on the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah, with the obligations first; if you feel you need guidance for a particular struggle, speak to a trusted, qualified teacher.
