الوحدة: الكسب والمعاملات
Honest work is an act of worship.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "No one has ever eaten better food than that which he earns with his own hands" (Bukhari 2072). Honest work is honourable, and providing for one's family is rewarded.
Income must come from lawful sources. Forbidden earnings include riba, which is interest and exploitative gain (2:275-278), gambling (5:90), theft and fraud ("Whoever deceives us is not one of us", Muslim 102), selling what is forbidden, and bribery: the Prophet ﷺ cursed the one who gives and the one who takes a bribe (Abu Dawud 3580, Tirmidhi 1337).
Contemporary finance (mortgages, bank loans, insurance, investments) raises many questions. Scholars differ on solutions; this lesson only gives the principles: avoid riba, avoid uncertainty that harms, and look for Islamic alternatives or the advice of a qualified scholar. Schools of law and contemporary scholars differ on some practical details; this lesson gives the common principles and flags differences without settling them. For your own situation, consult a qualified scholar.
