Sacred Citation & Source"He who created seven heavens in layers. You will not see any flaw in the creation of the Most Merciful. So return your gaze: do you see any breach? Then return your gaze again and again, and your gaze will come back to you humbled and weary" (67:3-4). The verses invite us to look, then look again. The more carefully we look, the more we see order and mercy, and the more our pride is lowered. The next verse adds that the nearest heaven is adorned with lamps (67:5). Elsewhere the Qur'an praises those who reflect "on the creation of the heavens and the earth" (3:190-191). Reflection is worship when it brings us back to Allah. Practice today: step outside at night or at dawn for five minutes, look at the sky, and say "Subhanallah" slowly. Notice how it feels to be small.
