Sacred Citation & SourceThese verses describe the end of those who rejected the truth. When they are asked whether no warner came to them, they answer: "Yes, a warner came to us, but we denied him"; and they say: "If only we had listened or reasoned, we would not be among the companions of the blaze" (67:9-10). The surah names two tools Allah gave us: hearing (listening to the message) and reason (thinking about it). The regret in these verses is a mercy in disguise: it is told to us now, while there is time. We should read it with hope as well as fear, remembering that "My mercy prevails over My wrath" (Bukhari 3194). Practice today: choose one piece of advice or a reminder that you have been postponing, listen to it fully, and decide one concrete change.
