Unit: Uthman ibn Affan
The man the angels were shy of.
Uthman was famous for his modesty. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Should I not be shy of a man of whom the angels are shy?" (Muslim 2401), speaking of Uthman. He married two daughters of the Prophet ﷺ one after the other, which is why he is called Dhun-Nurayn, "the one with two lights".
He was also very generous. When the Muslims lacked water in Madinah, he bought the well of Rumah and made it free for everyone (Tirmidhi 3703). He financed the army of Tabuk, the "army of hardship", and the Prophet ﷺ said that nothing he did afterwards could harm him (Tirmidhi 3701).
