Sacred Citation & SourceA prophet is a man chosen by Allah to receive revelation and to guide his people. Allah says: "We sent to every nation a messenger: worship Allah and avoid false gods" (16:36). All prophets brought the same core message, the worship of one God, even if their laws differed.
Sacred Citation & SourceAdam was the first human and the first prophet. Allah created him, taught him the names and made the angels prostrate to him (2:30-34). He and his wife ate from the forbidden tree, and then they repented with the words: "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves; if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers" (7:23). Allah forgave them. The lesson: everyone slips, and repentance opens the door to mercy.
