The end of verse 2:185 says: "So that you complete the period and glorify Allah for having guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful." Eid is first a moment of gratitude. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged people to attend the Eid prayer, even those who normally cannot (Bukhari 324, Muslim 890). Eid is for joy, family, forgiveness and visiting. Today, prepare for Eid: choose clothes, plan to take the takbir with your family, prepare gifts or food to share, and write the names of three people you will contact in the first days of Eid, especially those who might be alone.
