The Prophet ﷺ said: "Fasting is a shield. So let him not be obscene or ignorant. If someone fights him or insults him, let him say: I am fasting" (Bukhari 1894, Muslim 1151). He also said that whoever does not leave false speech and acting on it, Allah has no need of his leaving food and drink (Bukhari 1903). Verse 25:63 describes the servants of the Most Merciful as those who walk gently and, when the ignorant address them, say "Peace". Today, take one hour of the day to speak only what is good, and when you feel anger rise, say quietly: "I am fasting."
